I just bought the MX6000I but I am having some problems when streaming DIVX, AVI or XVID movies (the wireless connection is OK). The media will not stream properly, does anyone have the same problem?
Thnx Silvester

Have you also tried to play a videofile with a cable network connection?
Because cable can be 100Mb and you don't have barrier's like floor's and wall's,...
(i'm using a sl400i and have no problems wile viewing video's but never tried it wireless)

First thing you have to check is the problem is because of the connection or because of the movie file itself.
When starting to play a movie, press 2x on the red button. Now OSD should be on and in the top right corner you shouldn't see the message "buffering" appear, only one time in the beginning (after connecting).
If you see the message appear a lot, then there is a problem with you connection.
If you don't see this message but the video is pausing, jumping, or audio/video is not in sync, there could be a problem with you're video files.
You can try to fix this with virtualdub. You don't have to reëncode the file, just reïnterleave it (audio and video data must be equaly spread over the file).

Thanks for your help guys, I looked into the OSD screen and my connection is OK. It only "buffered" when the movie started. Some of my movies do work perfect. I think it has something todo with the high bitrate. Some movies pause or jump a lot, but only the ones with a bit rate higher than 1071835 kbps (MPEG4), videos below 1000000 worked fine. Is there somebody out there who tested high bit rate videos above 1071835 kbps on a wireless MX6000i config?

I've had skipping issues with wireless connections due to the following:
I had a laptop, an wireless "B" access point and a SL400i (no difference in streaming with Mx6000i). Video with rather high bitrates started skipping because the stream has to go through the wireless network twice (laptop -> access point, access point-> SL400i). Wireless 802.11B doesn't seem to have the bandwidth to handle that (basically 2 video streams).
Not sure if this is similar to your problem. If it is, there may be some solutions:
* hook either pc or Streamium wired into your network (if possible). This way you get rid of the "double" data traffic.
* switch both pc and access point to a "G" access point (yes, i know, that costs money, but probably "neatest" solution)
* ditch the access point and directly connect pc wirelessly to the Streamium (without access point)
Note: this is only the case if you have an access point, both pc and Streamium connected wirelessly and the access point is in "B" mode. "G" access points fall back to "B" whenever there is a "B" only device in the network, so that may happen too.
hope it helps
if it doesn't help, what is your network configuration?

Details of 802.11g networks with 802.11b devices.
802.11g normally has an actual throughput of about 22 mbit/s.
802.11b normally has an actual throughput of about 5.9 mbit/s.
When an 802.11b device is connected the throughput BETWEEN 802.11g devices drops to about 12 mbit/s.
The Philips Wireless BaseStation (CPWBS054) provides a nitro mode which is switching faster than normal (still at the boundaries of the IEEE specification). This results in no drawback for 802.11b devices to be added to a Philips Wireless 802.11g Network.

My config: I am using a Dell Desktop 3.0Ghz 500GB HD Raid0 directly connected by UTP to a Wireless b/g ADSL/MODEM/Router Sitecom WL-108 .My new streamium MX6000i is directly located under my PC in the livingroom. Even when i put the streamium MX6000i next to my Wireless router some movies skipped. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It might be a good idea (if you haven't already) to hook the Streamium through utp instead of wireless. That way you know for sure if it is a network issue or some problem with the particular file(s).

I Connected the MX6000i by UTP, and still some movies are Skipping. I must say that this frame skipping does happen at the same scene in the movies all the time. But when I Play the movie (DIVX or XVID)on my pc it is Perfect.

So far as i know, the streamium can handle mpeg4/divx files to 1Mb/s on FD1 (720 x 576), but it is possible that the decoder needs to skip/drop some frame's because the load is to high (the problem is when the decoder starts to drop frame's, it has to wait untill the next keyframe/scene change)
Do you also have problems with audio? When the video decoder is dropping frames, you shouldn't hear any probs with the audio. If so, then you movie file is not good...

The sound is OK, only the image skippes or hangs for a while. I dont think there is something wrong with the connection as i tried it Wired and still the movies skipp. I think it has something todo with the MX6000i codec,'

So it looks like the stream is to "heavy" for the streamium.
You can try to re-encode your stream to a lower bitrate or , beter yet, a lower resolution, but i guess you don't want to do that.
I believe there is a new video decoder with some performance improvements on the way, but i don't know when it will be available in an update.
