what do u mean? I use the watch folder and scan my music folder, which is also where iTune scans (without the auto assistance).
How do u use your ipod and itune? and how do you propose Philips do it?

there's no way to use the streamium products with Mac OS X or AAC files.... that's the problem. PMM is supposed to come for Mac but nobody seems to know when...

That's true... I saw on the streamium support page that there is a beta version of PMM to download, but the url just send u to a link to the PC version...
Is there any UPnP Media Server that works on a Mac?
Regardless of running the server on the Mac, you still also need to have all of your files in MP3 format which iTunes supports but iTunes defaults to AAC which Philips does not support. You have to reconfigure iTunes to use MP3 by default and then if you have ripped a bunch of CDs in AAC you will have to re-rip them in MP3.

You can now get a beta version of the Mac server on my.Philips.com. Enjoy!

Hi!
There is another solution for working with iTunes. It is called Allegro Media Server and is available from http://www.allegrosoft.com/ams.html and is written for MacOS X or Windows. It will work directly with the iTunes directory and can provision iTunes to UPnP hardware. It still has the limitation of not being able to transcode AAC files for use by most UPnP devices. This means you will still have to have your music as MP3 files. Also it won't be able to work with the Apple Music Store files which are protected by Apple's DRM system.
With regards,
Simon Mackay

You could try TwonkyVision Mediaserver (http://www.twonkyvision.de)
the server could read your iTunes XML file and works not only on my mac. It runs also on my router (ASUS wl500g with customized firmware) :-) ... so I've got always a server running. I've got a mobile harddrive with enough mp3's. I connected it to my router (USB).
The mediasever could also read the db file of an iPod.
So I've got alot input for my streamium..... :-)

I believe the Predixis UPnP server and playlist tool may support MAC OS. Its free to try (http://www.predixis.com/) and I think it also integrates with iTunes.

What ever the server software, you will not be able to play music purchased from iTunes on non-Apple products without converting it to MP3 format. This is called DRM (Digital Rights Management). Apple does not license their DRM technology to other companies, so write a letter to Steve Jobs if you are not happy.
