Is the new firmware being written with a quill and ink?
Just how long can it take?
Will anyone from Philips bother to answer?

Hi,
Since I am responsible only for technical support I do not have the answers on your questions. Although I make sure that your (and other people's) questions are forwarded to the responsible person(s) within the organization.
At this moment the status is that there is no decission taken yet to go for a firmware upgrade. As soon as I have more news, I will immediately put it on this forum.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate your answer even though it is dissapointing.
I have kept my RC9800i in the hope that one day it will be more user friendly (via a firmware update). I am sure you know that many people on this and other forums, complain that the lack user configurable screens makes this potentially great device, frustrating and tedious.
Will Philips be releasing a successor to the RC9800i like the http://www.openpeak.com/simpleremote.php any time soon?The RC9800i is also a OpenPeak product from origin.
I am interested in a product like the RC9800i but I am hesitant now with all the problem items made on this forum.
