View Full Version : RC9800i not compatible with PMM ?

Hi all !

This is rather annoying :
I have my RC9800i (FW 080) set up in my WiFi network. I can ping the RC9800i from my PC without any problem.

The RC9800i can see my WAC700 and my WAS700.
It can also see TVersity Server on my PC, although it is not compatible with picture browsing (TVersity problem IMO).

The strange thing is that if I start PMM, the RC9800i never, ever finds it ! My WAS700 finds it rock-solid all the time. It doesn't matter if I have TVersity running at the same time or not, the RC9800i finds the Tversity (if it is running) but no PMM, if I don't start TVersity (just having PMM running) PMM is not found either. The WAS700 always finds whatever PMM/TVeristy server is running though.

So, why isn't RC9800i compatible with Philips' own PMM ? Beats me...

BTW: This is with FW 080, my RC9800i was delivered with an older FW (I think it was 078) and with that FW it found the PMM all the time.

TIA,
/Mathias

Hi,

What version of PMM are you using?

Currently, I'm using PMM version 3.3.12.0004
I've tried with 3.2.1.0004 as well.

Hi,
I could not get hold of your versions of PMM, so I downloaded version 3.3.11.0041 from the www.p4c.philips.com (http://www.p4c.philips.com) website (search for rc9800i/00, under the software and drivers tab).
I checked this version of PMM with the 2.0.b078m FW and the 2.0.c080c FW. Both are working fine.
Can you please check with this version of PMM?

Hi !

Version 3.3.11.0041 seems to work (at least teh RC9800i saw PMM on my PC for the first time in months), although it keeps reminding me that there's an upgrade available, namely version 3.3.12.0004, so I find it strange that you can't find this latest (and obviously official) version of PMM...

I'll test it for some hours to see if it's stable and get back with the results.

Cheers !

Hi Tias,
I now updated to the latest version. It takes some time here before RC9800i finds the server (couple of minutes). Reason of this is most probably port 47873.
Release notes say: "...it is possible that devices take a long time to detect the Philips Media Manager. Opening your firewall for port 47873 resolves this issue"
Hope this helps you to solve the problem.

I have tried it for hours, and it never shows up when I have the latest version installed, trust me ;-(

I have seen that, but it is impossible, since I do not have any firewall in my PC, only the one in my D-Link router, and it is only protecting me LAN<->WLAN, all ports are open within my LAN without any exceptions at all.
(Hence, my question in another thread on which port I must open between my LAN<->WLAN to make the Time Server synchronization to work, opening TCP/IP & UDP port 123 doesn't make the time update work... :-)
