While I still have some issues, I would like to share my configuration which works fine for video streaming, music playback and Internet radio.

Some important preliminary remarks:
1) make sure you register your product through the SLM5500 setup procedure first (and do not do this from your PC)
2) make sure you have a stable and strong wifi signal on your SLM5500
3) if you want to enjoy Internet Radio, then make sure you have a stable Internet connection: high bandwidth (broadband) offered by a reliable ISP

Stable and secure wifi connection:
My SLM5500 is connected to a Netgear WPN802v2 wireless access point over the WPA2-AES protocol.
I used my laptop with a wifi card to verify the signal on the spot where the SLM5500 had to be installed.
The SLM5500 keeps the communication up very well and has not failed to support the encrypted connection.

A dedicated PMM PC:
An (old) PC is connected on my (wired) home LAN which hosts all media files. This Windows XP system runs on an AMD Duron - 1 Mhz PC with 256Mb RAM and is dedicated to run the Philips Media Manager software (currently version 3.3.12.0004).
The PMM application could perform better. Even on a more powerfull machine with 2Gb RAM is works too slow.

TV recordings by Hauppage:
My main PC has a Hauppage WinTV-PVR-150 installed which records TV programmes on the PC's hard disk. After verification of the quality, I transfer them on the dedicated PMM PC for viewing on my TV (which is a Beovision 6). Excellent playback by the SLM5500: no quality loss or hickups.

Limited Internet Radio Selection:
While my DAB Tuner only offers a limited choice of (Belgian) National radio stations, I was hoping the SLM5500 could complement this with my choice of Internet broadcasts. Alas, BBC radio stations are not supported. In general, it is hard to find out what URL has to be used. However, FIP, my favourite French radio station did work. It was only after some research on their web site that I found the correct URL.
The Internet Radio performance is good: good quality and stable buffering. I use an ADSL connection from Skynet (4Mb downstream).

Playlists are a burden:
While my AAC music files are accepted, the iTunes playlist import did not work. This is still a show stopper to consider any other Philips streaming device.

Where is the surround:
The major issue today, is how I can get surround on my Beovision 6 out of the SLM5500.
If any of you can help me on this - please send me a message or reply to this post.

Thanks
