Hi,
My NP1100 is not able to find my MainComputer, means exactly: In my Windows Media Player 11 I can see the NP1100 device and enable the mediastreaming for it. But the NP denies to show it up.

It works fine with my laptop (Vista), which is wireless connected through a router (Fritz!Box 7270), besides my maincomputer (XP) is connected via cable.

I already checked:
Firewall
I can ping the device (with answer)
turned off the device
restarted the pc
disabled and enabled the media streaming in WMP (as recommended in the FAQ)

Could you please help us?

Herbertus

PS: Yes, we are a 'littlebit' unsatisfied with this 'glourious' piece of philips electronic.

Hi !

Have you tested with any other UPnP server such as TVersity or Twonky (just to mention a few...) ?

Cheers & Happy New Year !

it seems that 'network discovery service' is off on your PC. try to Google 'enable upnp' and check.
Hope this link could help http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/17135-enable-upnp-please-help-me.html.

Cheers

To Tias and Todd,
yes, it works with TVersity. But i am used to work with Windows Media. I think it should be standard to use this! If i want to use an exotic maschine it should be posible.

NP1100 dont get in contact with my WM11 on my main computer under Windows xp. I can see it from wm11, but not the other way.
It works with vista very good on my laptop.
My network router it fritz.box 7270.

NP1100 seems to be an absolute timewasting maschine. My new TV i will buy from Loewe! Never Philips again!!

Hello Herbertus,

Do you have other UPnP media player that can see your WMP11 in your XP machine ? Are you sure your firewall settings are all correct that other networked media devices can access your WMP11 shares ?

Since you have a Vista machine, the WMP11 in it is able to browse other WMP11 UPnP servers in the same network, please give it a try to see if your XP is really exposing the WMP11 into the network correctly.

Most of the time when there is an UPnP issue, the first thing to check is the firewall setting.

Just to give you an idea of how WMP11 performs compared with other UPnP servers. I have three UPnP servers active in my PC; TVersity, Twonky and WMP11. Plus my WAC7500 is a UPnP server in my LAN.
The most stable ( = almost always visible in any UPnP media renderer such as a WAS unit or my Nokia N95 mobile phone) ones are the WAC7500 and TVersity, with Twonky at a close third place. WMP11 shows up, in best case once a week (!).
IMO, I don't even consider WMP11 being a UPnP server since it is outperformed by the other UPnP servers I have tried.

Cheers !
