I just do wonder if anyone know what the latest Firmware 1.05 fix?
I thought it should fix so that you were able to see which artist/song that was played during Internet radio, write the year in the ID3-tag, make it aviable to sort HD playback as per year etc etc. But none of these features were made!
Back to my question, what do the latest FW do? Can't find any information regarding this at Club Philips either, really strange.
Hi !
What make you think that all things you list should be included in FW 1.05 ?
Cheers !

Nothing actually. Just my hopes, wishes and beliefs. Some of the things I listed have been discussed in the forum, Artist/Song during Internet radio for instance and I hoped some technicans at Philips checked the forum before the released the next FW...
But still, do anyone know what the FW 1.05 do fix?
Hi again !
In general, it seems like Philips only release bugfixes and never any kind of new functionality in the FW upgrades ;(
And they usually never publish any release notes about new FW either.
Personally, I find this "policy" very odd, since adding new (minor) functions would improve usability and the reputation of these products.
And not releasing a change log with a software upgrade is IMHO close to a criminal act, hehe ! ;-)
Cheers !
Totally agree Tias. Have the same experience with a Philips DVD-HD recorder.
Flaws in the software are hardly fixed, and when a new model is released, that's it, no more updates. Philips is taking the Micro$oft approach in putting stuff on the market for clients to test. But unlike Microsoft it doesn't even fix bugs found by user/clients. Very disapointing this.
Hi !
That's not what I was saying earlier. Bugs/flaws are usually fixed, bot no new functions are added.
Just an example: the Internet Radio WMA-streaming problem in the WAC7500 was fixed about one year after it was released on the market.
What I would like to see is a published change-log for each FW release.
And to improve the company image/reputation, listen to ideas from users (the Streamium Café for example) for improvements. Many things that have been discussed here over the years are 100% software related and shouldn't be too hard to include in a new FW version.
Or even better, release the FW source as Open Source when the product is not produced anymore. I do have a bunch of ideas I'd like to implement/improve myself, both in the WACS system and in my RC9800i remote control ;]
Cheers !

I agree that it would be good with a published change log for each FW release. Maybe Philips is afraid of some users not upgrading to the latest release if they publish what is included. I assume they want everyone to use the latest.
I also agree with the fact that only bugs/flaws are upgraded. I think Philips is selling "equipment with included software". The features included when you buy it is the ones you get. Only bugs/flaws may be upgraded if it fit into their maintenance budget. Equipment connected to internet need upgrades on a regular basis due to changes, I hope Philips have a budget to handle this. I am not sure about the lifitime for their products, maybe 3 years.
To add new features they have to get more money from users i.e. users have to pay for regular upgrades. User may then also be able to give input about which features to implement and improve. I don't think Philips have a business model for this yet.

I now see a stereo symbol ( I guess) in RDS-Radio-Mode. Not sure if this is really new.
