I'm in the process of learning my new MCI500.
Generally iit seems ok, but I'm reluctent to some userinterface.
The only way I've found to manage music/library is via Wadm, and it seem to me as a "one-way-street". I've not been able to move selected tracks/albums to my PC
(except backup in some propritary format - and all/new or nothing).
Would this be possible using an uPnP NAS device?
And:
I've got a lot of music on a non-uPnP NAS, which is "mapped" as a remote disk on my WMP-pc. I can have playlists on this WMP, and I can see the playlists on the MCI500, when connected via uPnP - BUT the are empty
In the same way, when using Wadm, I Can't copy from the remote disc (Z:)
Why is that?

I think you'd like to take a look at my WACHandler, see link below.

Sounds about right!
I've downloadet the deamon, and installed it on my little debianserver.
It semed successfully, and it's running (ps -ef).
Unfortenuately my skills lack a bit, in understanding the concept.
the deb- is on my local network, and I was of the impression it work like an uPnP sever, but that's appearently not the case, as the MCI500 don't find it.
Would you mind lighten me a bit?

Hi again Finn !
My WACHandler (which is an app, not a daemon ;) is a replacement for the WADM. It (WACHandler) will not act as a UPnP server so you will not "see" it on the MCi500H.

Hey!
How foolis might one be?
I simply had been working all night, thus confused and mixed it with my problem trying to make Paul Hallorans perl Hack work, to circumvent limitations on internetradio ( http://www.paulhalloran.com/streamium ).
I'll today test your app. and look forward. I think the WADM app is both cumbersome and limited in functionality, and not what I would expect to a product like this ;(

Well, now I've tried your app. and it works much more responsive, and intuitive than that made by Phillips. Thanks!
I wonder why, but it a'int possible to multiselect on tracks, and select "download to PC"" Why is that? - protocollimitations?
I would very much like to fetch my music back to my PC, both
Multible tracks at a time
one album at a time
multible albums at a time.
- I would even pay something for those features ;)
greetings, and keep up the good work!

Hi Finn !
Yes, you can select multiple tracks (use the Ctrl and/or Shift button as i Windows Explorer). Then drag and drop the tracks to whatever PC folder (in Windows Explorer) you want to place the tracks.
Another way to do it is to drag and drop the "All Tracks" node into you harddisk in Windows Explorer.
There are some other ways to download from the WAC to your PC involving the PC Tracks tree (the lowest one) as well.
Please keep in mind that multiselecting works slightly differnt than the Windows Explorer. When selecting the last item, use the Right-mouse button if you plan to us the pop-up menu.
Cheers !

Well, you'r right. Allthough the regular contextmenu i blank, dragging apearently works, and when dropping, I get a contextmenu copy and cancel.
However, nothing happens. Only files(tracks), single or multible actually copies the files.
I can mark single or multible albums, draw to explorer, getting the +cursor, and select Copy, but nothing happens!

Dragging Albums is not supported. You must drag tracks, playlists or the "All Tracks" node. This is improved in teh upocoming version though...
The most common and easy way to copy tracks from a WAC to the PC is (multi-)select the tracks in WACHandler, then drag and drop them (with the left mouse button) to a PC-fodler and that's it, no menu, no more interactiooin from the user needed to finish the copying.
And "...regular contectmenu is blank" ? I don't understand that. Exactly which menu (how did you make it appear) and "blank" ? Just a one-color rectangle ?
Cheers !

Well, it looked like albums might be dragged, as when dragged, the cursor changed to the +cursor :) in addition, when I use the rightbutton, by habbit, get the mentioned contextmenu (Copy)
I'll be looking closely for your next release, including this feature:cool:
That's the confusion on the last item too. By habbit I allways default to use the rightbutton, as this usually gives all options on an object. There is no contextmenu allsoever on albums. Which, I can see now, is quite right, as there is nothing to do on albums :D
Thanks for explaining.

Nb. You havn't by any chance been looking into the appearently solitare backupformat
(.bdt) ?
Extracting tracks and folders from a "xamp full backup", might be a circumvent, getting the music back in largescale.
I know that the cursor is showing the "wrong availability" while being dragged over the GUI objects in WACHandler. I have an updated Drag'n'Drop package that might solve this in a future version (I haven'īt put this a s very high prio bug yet ;)
The bdt-format is an encrypted archivem, that is using the MAC address (I think) of the WAC, so I can't do anything about that one.
Cheers !

Fair enough, I still think you've done very good!

Whhhou!
What in h... migt be the reason for that??
must be some thinking from back in early eighties, being afraid other might be as smart as oneself !!
If you are right, it might be a problem getting ones baskup back on a new device in case of breakin or fire
