is there a way to increase the range of the wireless, as i am a bit gutted i cannot quite stream to the room i bought the station for. it is fine a bit closer, but when i put it in the room the connection is intermittent and drops often when playing or just wont connect.

You need to buy a wireless bridge (or another router) which can almost double the range of your wireless signal. It acts like a relay passing on the signal from your router.
Don't bother looking at larger antennae as these don't work very well.

found a streamium wireless range extender on the net. As it connects intermeittnetly and is only just out of range, does anyone know if i would be likely to have success just fitting a slightly better wifi aerial to the center?

thanks. if i got a bridge, could it handle 2 networks, as i would love to be able to stream to the kitchen and get wifi in the garden on my laptop form my router at the same time...

Yep that looks like it should work. Make sure any device you buy is 54g compatible. The faster n devices can usually be configured for 54g only.
It would certainly handle 2 networks but whether it could do so at the same time I don't know - you'd have to experiment bit.
The set up page from my router shows this ....
