The NP2900 does not show all MP3 content available. On my NAS I have about 2600 MP3 files. On the NP2900 only 2400 are shown. I checked which files are missing and found a lot of albums where only the first song in an album is shown on the NP2900. I checked and even updated the MP3tags. And even re-ripped some albums. In most cases without result.
Does anybody else experience this "random" behaviour? Does anybody know what might be wrong and how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Hi !
Do you have the same problem when using another UPnP Renderer, such as, for example, Cidero on your PC, or the "!Home media" application in a Nokia N-seriws mobile phone ?
Have you ensured that you have the latest Firmware installed in your NAS ?
Cheers !

Have you tried rescanning or rebuilding your Twonky server database? (I don't remember the name of the options in the config.). I have the feeling that might be the problem.
------
Just looked in the config of my twonkymedia server, the button you need to look for is:
'Rescan Content Directory' and you can also try a 'Rebuild Database'

Which kind of NAS do you use ?
Did you leave the NAS sufficient long on ? (as some NAS only refresh their content every 60 minutes). I've on my NAS now 53241 songs, on so far no file is missing. :)

Thanks for the feedback so far.
I expect that my problem is caused by the media server of the NAS (Lacie) and not the NP2900. I installed Twonky Server on my PC and could view all the content exposed by the NAS. Here, the same content was missing as on the NP2900.
I issued a support ticket at Lacie. Keep you posted on the outcome.

Not sure which NAS you've, but, seems this company only makes ...
"UPnP A/V and DLNA media adapter compatible".
The last word is interesting. It can mean anything (I check 2 models on their web-page).
Not sure which model you've, but hopefully not one of the two I checked ...
On the other hand this company seems to make pretty cool boxes (outlook is nice).
Lacie is not in the DLNA forum listed !
As far as I can see, Lacie is a UPnP member, but is not listed in the overview of UPnP approaved devices.
So, seems it is only compatible !
I tried with this one : http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?pid=10994
together with my WACS7500 units about a year ago and I didn't encounter any problems. I have to admit that I only copied some 100-150 tracks to it though since I was just borrowing it from my office to see if it worked at all :)
Cheers !

If they used Twonky on that NAS, maybe the foreseen buffer is too small.
:)
Twonky is rather hungry and creates thousands of little files.

I contacted Lacie and they stated that it was a known problem. According to their information the Lacie NAS uses Twonky. The version used has problems with special characters in the MP3tags. A firmware update is expected soon.
Based on that information I used MP3tag to fool around with the MP3 tags of the CD's missing. I removed all the iTunes crap, corrected some other tags and re-added album art. It took a while, but now all MP3 files are shown on the NP2900.
Thanks again for all your support. Two thumbs up!
PS: My Lacie NAS (actually a network harddisk) is the following: http://www.lacie.com/uk/products/product.htm?pid=11136
