I've had my WAS6050 for < 24 hours and now when I power up I get the philps logo and that it. I've noticed a previous thread (http://www.streamiumcafe.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=20778) but this has been closed with no solution. I've had my WAS6050 swithed off over night but still get the error on power up.
Are there any solutions to this problem?
Philips support suggested a firmware upgrade but I cant boot it to install the upgrade!

I think you probably have a problem with your unit and it needs service, if you have only had 24 hours I would suggest returning to your dealer

As far as we can see in this forum - most likely there is an HW-failure (or an issue after you may have upgraded the unit to the latest firmware).
Can you unplug the unit from the power-supply and then leave it 10 minutes like that.
After that, plug it back in.
If it still hangs, bring it back to the supplier ...

Just as I thought - a dead device. I've taken it back to my dealer for a refund (actually I bought two - one for my kitchen and one for my bedroom and I took them both back for a refund).
Theses devices should be an amazing bit of kit. The hardware is fantastic , the sound quality is great for the size of the thing and it looks smart too. However, the firmware lets it down badly:
<rant>
1) I cant sync my clock with an internet time server. Now this one is a shocker, its not just something I'd like to see, it something that the device should support it mentions it in the manual.
2) I cant wake up to music. (Unless I buy the some other philips hardware) why cant I use my NAS drive with upnp or even an internet radio station (if it cant find the wifi at alarm time it can default to a beep)?
3) The alarm volume is the same as the system volume. If I want to be lulled into sleep with my lovely new music center then I cant be woken up by it because it is too quiet!
4) Why have the alphanumeric input emulate that of a cell-phone? Its infra-red - it does react as fast as phone keypad. Has anyone at philips tried to enter a WEP key on this device? Thats 30 mins of my life I'm never going to get back.
5) The contrast preferences just dont work.
6) If you turn it off it doesnt remember what you were doing last. If I'm listening to internet radio - remeber that I'm listening to internet radio. Each time I start this device is starts in a different mode.
7) The things lock up. Never to return. Ever. My warranty is only a year (well strictly speaking it two years because I live in the EU but try telling that to a reseller - sorry different rant). I've I'm buying a radio I expect to last longer than a year - if these things randomly lock after my year its time to buy a new radio
8) You cant rename the devices. I want to call one kitchen and one bedroom but I cant. I just have to remember the IP or MAC adresses.
What makes my faulty device worse is that after ensuring it worked and was setup correctly, I switched it off, DRILLED HOLES IN MY KITCHEN WALL so that I could wall mount it and I have never been able to turn it on again!
</rant>
Its a shame. I used to like Philips' products. Unfortunatley, I dont think I'll be coming back. Oh, and thanks for those two holes in my kitchen wall
