Hi,
does anyone knows if the NP2500 music playing can be controlled from a PC? I've seen some articles about the NP1100 being able to do this using software like Cidero or WacHandler but I'm not sure whether this also applies to the NP2500. I've tried both software packages on a NP2900 without success which means the higher versions NP2500 / 2900 doesn't have the UPNP control point included in the firmware (yet ?) to make it accessable via external control software running on a PC unless I'm mistaken. Anyway I would like to know if the NP2500 can be controlled remotely by a PC. Anyone experience with this? Many thanks in advance for sharing some experience if available and known. Cheers. |

Hi !
As you already have found out, the NP2500 and NP2900 does not come with the UPnP control point ability. Cheers ! |

Hi Tias,
thanks for the confirmation. I suppose at one point Philips will also include the UPNP remote control functionality in the firmware for the NP2500 / 2900. It seems unlogic that the lowest device of this family has more functionality then the higher range. ![]() I suppose the only thing to do is wait to see it happen or still go for another device although I'm very hapy with the NP2900 so far and would like to stay with the same brand. ![]() Let's hope Philips follows this forum and see my request or is their any other way to trigger them? ![]() All the best.

Right. I have heard that external control point features should be implemented in the coming weeks.
Not sure exactly when. |

Hi All,
I've discovered some supporting notes about the new Twonky Media Manager (TMM) being able to remotely control the NP2500 and NP2900 as network media renderer. This sounds fantastic and could be what I'm looking for. ![]() I've downloaded and installed the TMM trial version 1 but it did not work. I have both NP2xxx devices in my network auto updated to fw 5.63S but they are not recognised by TMM as renderer devices although they are recognised as media receivers by TMM. ![]() By the way both NP2xxx are functioning well as Internet Radio and TMM UPNP player so I guess there is nothing wrong with them. So I posted a ticket at TMM support to request more details about their test setup as it did not work in my setup and got the following response: "" Yes, TMM does support remote contol of rendering devices such as Philips NP2500 & NP2900 Streamium player. Thanks The TwonkyMedia Team "" Anybody some advice on NP2xxx firmware version to use or TMM setup to confirm the TMM response? Is there anyway to download the latest or Beta firmware which could be newer than those available and loaded via the build in update functionality (v 5.63S)? I did not find any software release version on the Philips support pages. I hope TMM did not publish anything which is not reallity but will keep their feedback posted on this forum as when I see some progress or a solution. ![]() Note: I've tried WACHandler to PC remotely control song play on both devices but that didn't work neither. Give me some light in the tunnel please...

Hi again !
I have no clue what the Twonky people are talking about. There is no Firmware for the NP2x00 devices that allows them to behave as a UPnP Control Point (so they can be remote controlled). At least not now. Older Streamium devices does have this functionality though (except the WAC700 and WAC5). Cheers ! |
